This industry recognised course will provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding required to work safely on or near the railway.
The PTS course comprises two components. There is an e-learning training package, followed by a practical training day.

- Demonstrate the ability to interpret correctly the Rule Book GE/RT 8000 Series or Guide to Personal Track Safety or PTS Key Point Card NR9922
- Demonstrate an understanding and ability to follow a Safe System of Work
- Track visit & assessment
- Knowledge & verbal assessment
Those who need to work on the Network Rail controlled railway infrastructure.
Pre-requisites
Delegates must be sponsored by an approved organisation, be registered on the Sentinel Database and must be a minimum age of 16, meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Medical Fitness Level 1 and meet the requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/ L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).
Delegates must have successfully completed the PTS e-learning component which must also be entered into the NCCA Database prior to attendance.
A drugs and alcohol test must have been carried out no more than 12 months prior to attending a PTS Initial training event.
