The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills to safely access and work upon flat rooftops.
This course is recognised by the Mast and Tower Safety Group (MATS) and forms part of the telecoms climber passport.
Please note: This course does not qualify delegates to work upon pitched or fragile rooftops. For delegates who do not require telecoms climber passport from MATS our 1 day Rooftop Safety training may be a suitable option for your training.
We also provide a 3 day MATS Initial Basic Tower Climber & Rescue training course, which provides delegates with the skills and knowledge required to safely use personal fall protection equipment whilst climbing, operate permanently installed fixed safety systems and additional fall prevention equipment.
- Legislation & safety standards that apply to working on a rooftop.
- Assessing risks related to rooftop access.
- Managing common hazards.
- Using harnesses.
- Using fall arrest lanyards.
- Selecting appropriate anchor points including ‘weighted’ anchors.
- Using fixed fall arrest & work restraint systems.
- Using work position lanyards.
- Using additional fall prevention equipment.
- Suspension Intolerance (syncope) awareness.
- Lifting & Lowering Systems.
- Demonstrating climbing techniques.
- Consideration of emergencies & rescue arrangements.
This course is suitable for those delegates who are required to work within the telecommunications and broadcast industry, as well as others.
Pre-requirements on the day
- Delegates must be 18 years and over.
- All delegates must be able to certify they are physically fit and have no medical conditions that might prevent them working at height prior to commencement of training.
