Q5. Who is this course suitable for?
This course is suitable for delegates who use ladders or stepladders at work, including tradespeople, maintenance teams, facilities staff, site operatives and similar roles. It's ideal for those that require proof of ladder compliance for their role or task.

Q6. Are there any entry requirements?
No formal qualifications or experience are needed, but delegates must have a good understanding of written and spoken English. For additional support, please refer to Q12. Delegates should be at least 16 years old, in good health, physically fit and capable of lifting, carrying, and maneuvering ladders/ stepladders.

How the Training Works
Q7. What should I bring on the day?
PPE: Please bring safety boots, hi-vis vest/jacket, hard-hat (preferably with a chin strap), protective gloves, eye protection, safety footwear, long-sleeve top and trousers (shorts are not permitted). You'll also need valid photo ID such as a passport, driving license or CSCS card. Please also bring your own lunch as this is not provided. Complimentary tea and coffee are available and your trainer can suggest nearby dining options if needed. All course materials are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own notebook and pen to complete written activities. Most of our training venues offer free on-site parking, although spaces may be limited. Assessment includes a 20-question, multiple-choice theory exam and practical assessment covering pre-use checks, carrying, setting up and completing a task using ladders and stepladders.

Q10. What do the 'Level' and 'Category' mean on my LadderCard?
Every LadderCard shows the level you're trained to use:
- U = User: trained to safely use ladders and stepladders
- INSP = Inspector: trained to inspect ladders and stepladders
- INST = Instructor: trained to deliver Ladder Association courses
The category shows which courses you've completed, e.g Ladders & Stepladders or Steps & Step Stools, so employers know exactly what qualification you've achieved.
Q11. What certification will I receive?
Successful delegates who complete both the theory and practical assessment will be awarded a LadderCard and certificate.
