To provide delegates with an understanding of current relevant legislation in order to be able to thoroughly inspect ladders and stepladders, identifying safety critical faults and to record equipment details and inspections as outlined in PUWER.

*Please see Who Should Attend tab for Pre-requisites

NOTE

Completing the e-learning alone does not qualify you to inspect ladders; industry standards require both the knowledge gained in the e-learning theory session and assessed use of the equipment to demonstrate proficiency. Once you have completed the e-learning, you must also complete the practical assessment and testing at a Ladder Association approved HSS Training centre.  On successful achievement, of all three parts, we will apply for your Ladder Association Certification and ID Card.

To take advantage of this, please follow the below steps:

  1. Get in touch with us on 0345 605 0006 or click below to book - at this time you will be charged the full course cost
  2. Complete the theory e-learning module which can be done anytime, anywhere and on any device, at a pace which suits you (compatible with PCs, Macs, tablets and smartphones on any modern internet browser)
  3. Once you have completed and successfully passed the e-learning, please contact us to book your practical training and assessment at one of our Ladder Association approved centres - you will be asked to provide evidence of successful completion of the e-learning certificate which is created / printed at the end of your e-learning.
Delegates are required to attend an HSS Training Ladder Association approved training centre within 90 days of completing the e-learning module to sit their theory exam and undertake practical training and assessment [this has been temporarily increased due to Covid-19]
  4. You will need to bring a copy of your ‘certificate of completion’ to the course for the trainer to verify, without this you will be refused entry
  5. Upon entry to the course, you will be asked to complete an open book multiple choice questionnaire which is based on the knowledge gained from the e-learning.  This will be followed by a practical training and assessment session, with the duration dependent upon knowledge and experience

To find the next available date at a centre near you, please contact us on 0345 605 0006 or email training@hss.com.

This attracts a CITB Short Course Duration Grant at Tier 1, with a value of £60.  Please see the Grants and Funding tab for further information.

Information for Employers

HSS Training is an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) with CITB, allowing our customers to claim grants for completing training on our registered courses.  The CITB levy and grants scheme has been introduced to ensure the UK construction industry has the skilled workforce that it needs; providing grants for employers to train their workers. This helps to maintain health & safety standards on construction sites, keeping the right skills available for the industry to grow. In turn this will allow projects to be completed on time and within budget, in a safe and sustainable manner.

How much is the Grant?

The grant rates are split into three tiers, determined by the duration and content of the course.

•Tier 1 = £60
