Pre-Requisites
Delegates are required to have successfully completed the Fundamentals in Fire Detection & Alarm Systems course covering BS 5839-1 for non-domestic premises.
Aims
The aim of this 1-day course is to provide delegates with detailed recommendations for Fire Detection & Alarm Systems in all domestic premises, addressing both new-build and existing properties.
Delegates will be taken through the requirements of BS 5839-6 to provide an understanding of the following:
• The scope of BS 5839-6 and the premises covered
• The balance between fire risk, system reliability and its success rate
• The different grades and categories of system available
• A guide to the minimum grade and categories of system for typical premises
• The location of detectors & manual call points specific to domestic premises
• The requirement for the limitation of false alarms
• The audibility requirements for domestic premises
• The requirements for installation, commissioning & certification
