Course Chapters
Unit 1: Emergency First aid in the Workplace
- Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Assessing an incident
- Unconscious casualties
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Choking
- External Bleeding
- Shock
- Minor Injuries
Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace
- Secondary survey
- Injuries to bones, joints and muscles
- Suspected head and spinal injuries
- Chest injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Eye injuries
- Sudden poisoning
- Anaphylaxis
- Major illnesses
This will be in the format of both theory and practical assessments and activities.
Nominated emergency first aiders, or anyone wanting to receive thorough first aid training. May be more suitable for those working within lower risk environments, such as office environments, shops and/or organisations with fewer than 100 employees.

Delegates successfully completing this course will receive a City & Guilds Award in First Aid at Work.
Requalification is mandatory every three years.
