This industry leading course will provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to undertake leak checking, recovery, installation, service and maintenance of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment containing refrigerants.
Theory
- Identify basic systems, terms, principles, units and how these relate to theory and thermodynamics of vapour compression and refrigerants
- Identify the causes and effects of global warming and climate change
- Identify causes and effects of ozone depletion
- Identify stationary refrigerant, air conditioning, and heat-pump systems components, functions and leakage risk
- Identify the hazards and safe working practices for the installation, commissioning and handling of refrigerants
Practical
- Fabricate and examine pipework
- Undertake pressure testing, evacuation and record completion
- Undertake refrigerant charing, leak charging and record keeping
- Undertake recovery of refrigerant and oil and prepare for disposal
Duration - 5 Days
- Days 1 to 4 - Training, theory, course material alongside hands on practical experience
- Day 5 - Closed book online City & Guilds GOLA examination (multiple choice) and Practical Assessment
Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) - F-GAS information sheets - For users of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump (RAC) systems and contractors and equipment suppliers in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry.
Delegates who are working, or looking to work, as a refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump system engineer and who have some relevant skills and knowledge. You need this qualification as a licence to practise with fluorinated gases and ozone depleting substances.
Pre-requisites
It is recommended that delegates should have or be working towards the level 2 NVQ in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, or an equivalent/higher qualification, in order to be able to satisfactorily complete the City and Guilds level 2 award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations.
Without evidence of formal qualifications, delegates must be able to demonstrate adequate prior knowledge and experience to ensure they have the potential to successfully gain the qualification(s).
A good understanding of written & spoken English is required.
On successful completion of the course, a Level 2 award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations - Category I - City & Guilds 2079-11 certificate will be issued, qualifying you to undertake leak checking, recovery, installation, service and maintenance of equipment containing F-Gas refrigerants.
All certification is subject to the City & Guilds Quality assurance procedure. if you require a certificate of attendance in the interim please don’t hesitate to contact us.
