- Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Legal requirements for first aid provision
- Incident management
- First aid equipment and its safe use
- Undertaking primary and secondary surveys
- Demonstration of a defribillator (AED)
Management of a casualty who is:
- Unconscious but breathing normally
- Unconscious but not breathing normally
- Choking
- Bleeding
- In shock
- Suffering burns or scalds
- Suffering from a seizure
- Unconscious, non-breathing casualty (CPR)
Practical Assessment
The practical assessment covers the following five elements:
- Recovery position
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Shock
Nominated emergency first aiders, or those who need to undertake emergency first aid training, working within smaller workplaces that present fewer health and safety risks.

Delegates successfully completing the course will receive a City & Guilds Award in Emergency First Aid valid for 3 years.
