This course aims to support individual with little or no knowledge of working in hazardous areas. The course covers DSEAR 2002 and risk assessments while providing an overview of hazardous area classification, safe working practices and basic protection concepts used for certifying Ex equipment. This is done using a combination of both theory and practical, making it an alternative to the CompEx Foundation qualification.

Practical
- Introduction to glands and connections
- Reading Loop drawings
- Practical examples of gland fitting
- Practice gland fitting
- Practice crimping, termination selection
Assessment:
Delegates will undergo a multiple-choice online assessment and a 1.5-hour practical installation exam. The practical will include the assessments on making of glands, termination and crimping and reading loop drawings (separation/segregation etc.)
This is best suited for individuals working in hazardous areas with minimal installation tasks and do not require knowledge of hazardous areas to participate. This course is well-suited for individuals looking to pursue the Ex01-Ex04 Gas and Vapours qualification.
Upon successful completion, delegates will be awarded with a CompEx Certificate for Foundation Plus in Hazardous Awareness.
This certification is valid for 5 years.
