Login Details
- Login details and course materials must be sent directly to each delegate 2 working days before the course start date. Please follow the instructions provided in this email to join the training.
- You must ensure each delegate’s full name and individual email address is entered via the “Manage My Booking” portal as soon as possible. Shared email addresses are not accepted. A link to this can be found on the order confirmation email.
- Microsoft Teams must be installed beforehand to participate successfully. A User Guide can be downloaded here.
Remote Learning Requirements
- Computer or Laptop: Desktop PC or laptop only.
- Device Restrictions: Tablets and phones are not permitted, as they cause issues during exams and prevent trainers from monitoring delegates effectively.
- Webcam: Built-in or USB plug-in. Delegates are required to keep their webcam switched on and remain visible throughout the course.
- Speaker and Microphone: Built-in, USB plug-in, or wireless Bluetooth.
- File Capability: Ability to send/receive files and store documents.
- Internet Connection: Preferably direct via ethernet cable for a stable experience.
- Screen Size: Minimum 10” or larger for comfortable viewing.
- Photographic ID: You must show valid photo ID to the trainer on the first day. Accepted forms of ID include passport, driving licence, CSCS card. If you do not have these, please refer to our full list of accepted forms of identification.
- ID Waiver Form (if applicable): If you don’t have photo ID from the full list, please complete the CITB ID Waiver Form and bring this with you on the day of your course.
- Parental Consent (if applicable): The minimum age to attend this course is 16. Delegates under 18 must provide a completed CITB Parental Consent Form on the first day of training in order to participate.
- National Insurance Number: Recommended to enable registration on the Construction Training Register and future eligibility for grants or a CSCS card.
- Stationery: You’re welcome to bring pens or pencils for taking notes.

Delivery & Examination
- Course delivery: The CITB Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) Remote course is delivered via a virtual classroom over two days, combining trainer-led presentations, group discussions, and scenario-based exercises to help delegates apply learning to real-world examples.
- Assessment: Assessment is based on active participation in course activities and an exam made up mostly of multiple-choice questions, with some multi-choice or short written answers format.
- Trainer support: Your trainer will be on hand throughout the course to guide you through activities, offer feedback, and help you make the most of your learning.
- Attendance: Full attendance across all days is required to be eligible for certification.
- Certification: Successful delegates will receive a CITB-accredited certificate valid for 5 years.
Certificates can take up to 28 working days to be processed once delegates have completed the course and successfully passed their exam. If you haven’t received your certificate after this time, please email us at trainingadmin@hss.com.

Q. How long is the CITB SSSTS remote learning course?

The exam is a 30-minute test consisting of
- 25 questions in total
- 22 multiple-choice questions (1 mark each)
- 3 short-answer questions (1–3 marks each)
- 4 safety-critical questions which must be answered correctly to pass
- The pass mark is 80% (24 out of 30).

Q. When and how will I receive my SSSTS remote learning certificate?
