On the Day
Delegates are required to bring
- Photographic ID: You must show a valid photo ID to the trainer on the first day. Accepted forms include passport, driving licence, CSCS card, or other official ID. If you do not have these, please refer to our full list of accepted forms of identification.
- ID Waiver Form (if applicable): If you don’t have photo ID from the full list, please complete the CITB ID Waiver Form and bring this with you.
- Parental Consent (if applicable): The minimum age to attend this course is 16. Delegates under 18 must provide a completed CITB Parental Consent Form on the first day of training in order to participate.
- National Insurance Number: Recommended to enable registration on the Construction Training Register and future eligibility for grants or a CSCS card.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). If your course involves visiting a live site or completing practical activities, you’ll need to wear suitable clothing and PPE. Please ensure you come prepared with the following:
- Stationery: Course materials are provided; however, delegates are welcome to bring their own pens or pencils to take notes and complete written activities.
- Lunch: Please remember to bring your own lunch as this is not provided. Complimentary tea and coffee will be available. All training centres are equipped with a kettle, microwave, and refrigerator. Your trainer will be happy to guide you to local dining options if required.

Delivery & Examination
- Course delivery: The CITB Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS course) is classroom-based, delivered over 2 days through a mix of trainer-led presentations, group discussions, and scenario-based exercises, helping delegates apply learning to real-world scenarios.
- Assessment: Assessment is based on active participation in course activities and an exam made up mostly of multiple-choice questions, with some multi-choice or short written answers format.
- Trainer support: Your trainer will be on hand throughout the course to guide you through activities, offer feedback, and help you make the most of your learning.
- Attendance: Full attendance across all days is required to be eligible for certification
- Certification: Successful delegates will receive a CITB-accredited certificate valid for 5 years.
Certificates can take up to 28 working days to be processed once delegates have completed the course and successfully passed their exam. If you haven’t received your certificate after this time, please email us at trainingadmin@hss.com.

Q. How long is the CITB SSSTS course?
The SSSTS course is delivered over 2 days, comprising 15 hours of guided learning. Full attendance across both days is required to be eligible for certification.

- The pass mark is 80% (24 out of 30).
